How to Get Your Work Shown

Friday 26 January 2018 | 2pm – 5pm* | £10 / £7 concessions (price includes tea and cake)

A half day professional development seminar led by Artist, Andreas Rüthi. Aimed at emerging and early career artists the Seminar will look at:

  • Creating a profile in rural Wales
  • Applying for ACW grants
  • Top tips for writing a statement and perfecting your CV
  • Navigating open calls and opportunities

Andreas Rüthi is a Swiss artist who lives and works in Monmouthshire, Rüthi has exhibited his still life paintings in over twenty solo exhibitions worldwide. His work has been selected for John Moors 24, Eisteddfod, Mostyn Open and in 2016, was the joint prize-winner of the Oriel Davies Open. As well as a cash prize, the winner of the OD Open is given an exhibition - colourfelt is Rüthi’s first solo show in Wales. colourfelt runs from 09 December 2017 – 27 January 2018.

*Surgery and Portfolio Sessions

In addition to and ahead of the Seminar, we are offering 5 artists a ½ hour surgery or portfolio session with Andreas Rüthi. Artists can choose one of the following focus areas for their session:

  • Portfolio viewing – feedback and guidance on your portfolio
  • How to create a portfolio
  • Presenting and selling yourself – a constructive review of your CV and Artist Statement

Surgery and Portfolio sessions are available on a first come first served basis and can only be booked with the Seminar.

Slot 1:    10am – 10.30am
Slot 2:    10.40am – 11.10am
Slot 3:    11.20am – 11.40am
Slot 4:    11.50am – 12.20pm
Slot 5:    12.30pm – 1pm

How to Get Your Work Shown has been programmed as part of The Kitchen, Oriel Davies’ pop-up project and event space, which runs until 27 January 2018.

Building on the achievements of The Drawing Room in year one, The Kitchen is the next edition of Open Space, a two-year pilot project that runs alongside, and in addition to, the Gallery's existing exhibition and learning programmes.

Only five, 30-minute session are available and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
