Within the field of the Art & Design, this is defined as a series of creative actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end, whatever the chosen discipline; Fine Art, 3D Design, Fashion, Textiles, Photography, Graphics etc. The creative process itself has many benefits. As well as developing the ability to externally manipulate materials, there is also an internal creative process taking place developing researching, thinking and analytical skills. These areas of skills development underpin many of the activities learners engage in while studying at Newtown College in the Art & Design Department.

The work on display seeks to explore and present many of the features of the creative process, from initial ideas, sketchbook work and the exploration of media to the presentation of practical and conceptual conclusions. We hope you will enjoy exploring the depictions of our creative process as much as we have enjoyed producing them!
