Craft SOR Astrid De Groot

Originally from a family of traditional clog makers in Brabant, the Netherlands, ASTRID de GROOT moved to Pembrokeshire in 2007 as a self-employed joiner/woodworker, more recently specialising in spoon-carving and bowl turning.

All of these spoons are hand-carved using traditional tools and techniques and made from indigenous wild hardwoods of rural Wales while the wood is still green.

"Most wood is foraged by myself - broken branches on the roadside, fallen trees in the woods. I always keep my eyes open and bring my folding saw when I walk in the woodland." Astrid de Groot designs and makes durable, practical spoons, striving for a high standard of excellence and beauty.

"They make wonderful personal gifts for the home or professional kitchen, birthdays and wedding presents."
