In this time of crisis we are all trying to be more courageous. Artist Alinah Azadeh invites you to take part in a medal making workshop to celebrate the often-unacknowledged acts of everyday courage.
“It’s courageous to: try new things, reach out for support, feel and share difficult feelings, be strong for others, tell truth to those who you love, find joy in small things and to keep focusing on what you love and have rather than what is lacking.”
Make medals for someone you know to recognise their everyday acts of courage or to acknowledge your own courage in the face of adversity.
Alinah will show you how to make medals of courage using simple craft techniques and materials you have at home. No previous sewing experience required. The medals can be made using textiles and threads, buttons and badges, or paper, card and glue.
Booking essential as places are limited. Children under 16 are welcome but should take part with the support of a parent or carer.
We will send further information about the workshop, including the workshop link once bookings have been processed.
Alinah is one of several artists exhibiting in the gallery’s current show We Are Commoners.
We are Commoners has been produced by Craftspace and is a touring exhibition and programme of creative community activities that explore and celebrate the power of collective action and craft to enrich our lives and our communities.
