Freedom and opportunity created the music you hear. Thanks to Croeso Cynnes, Warm Welcome, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, and Oriel Davies in Newtown, collaborators Aidan Thorne and Jason Ball came together to explore welsh folk music to celebrate St Davids Day.
Aidan has collaborated with a large number of Welsh musicians over the years including Burum, Julie Murphy, Khamira and Eadyth Crawford. From this experience he picks some of his favourite Welsh tunes as stimulus. With the use of ambience and electronic effects Aidan Thorne and Jason Ball explore these tunes and expand the melodies into large ethereal musical canopies.
Aidan and Jason have both collaborated over the years on original music as well as jazz ensembles and theatre projects but Archwilio’r Traddodiad : Exploring the Tradition marks their first release.
Join us here at Oriel Davies for the launch of the new album, 'Archwilio’r Traddodiad : Exploring The Tradition', in the same space where it was created.
