Best's interest resides around the ambiguous spaces that emerge from the work and the subtleties they convey. Most recently she has been making site-responsive pieces and for TestBed, she creates an immersive drawing to confound and challenge our understanding of the space.
Kelly Best was born in Kent in 1984 and completed her BA Fine Art painting degree at Kingston University, London. She now lives and works in Cardiff, managing Studio b. art studios. Recent exhibitions include Oriel Davies Open 2014; Out Lines, Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff (2014); Unit(e) Residency, g39, Cardiff (2014); Y Lle Celf, National Eisteddfod of Wales, Denbigh (2013); John Moores Painting Prize, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, 2012.
