Drawing and Data Collection
Using drawing we will collect visual notes to help learn and identify trees and create a personal image resource of sketches.
Drawing Memory and Learning
Drawing can help you remember information better than writing or taking a photograph. Drawing helps you learn and retain information by integrating visual, kinetic and semantic information.
Deborah will share processes of drawing to help you collect linear data, patterns and symmetries of the line through the subject of trees.
Deborah Dalton
Deborah’s art practice begins with drawing, it’s like breathing. Drawing is like a tool that helps her to navigate ASD, anxiety and sensory overload. Deborah uses drawing to collate these experiences to map and understand both subjects and environments. This process of drawing enables Deborah to feel calm and confident enabling her to access these places.
Deborah’s drawings log an experience of a place, collecting linear data of patterns symmetries, figure ground relationships and spatial awareness.
It can be intense, but also grounding as it becomes a meditative process of ‘drawing the experience of looking’.
