The five selectors worked hard to choose what they consider to be the most original and engaging work from hundreds of entries from all over the world. Twenty-six artists and artist collectives are represented with a good proportion from those based in Wales. Together, these artists present new and recent work that reflects the diversity of contemporary practice - whether abstract or figurative, representational or imagined.
Three awards are part of the Oriel Davies Open tradition. The overall prizewinner receives a cash prize of £1000 and an invitation to have a solo show at Oriel Davies and a student prize winner receives a cash prize of £500; both of these will be announced at the opening. There is also the popular People’s Choice award of £250 presented at the end of the show to the artist whose work receives the most votes. Please come and nominate the work you think should win!
