For a decade the choir has been a lifeline for people seeking sanctuary in Cardiff.
Faced with restarting their lives in an unknown country, they’re also often confronted with a language that is completely new. And yet music transcends these barriers, helping people to make friends and build community together, giving our members a voice, and a shared language, in their new home.
Your work enables people who may not have had the fortune to interact with people seeking sanctuary before, to share a moment of solidarity and reflect on our shared humanity.
They bring a wealth of lived experience to communities that may not have direct access to the stories and cultures they share. Their touring to rural communities helps to foster connection and stronger cultural understanding in the wider community, while bringing powerful representation for our Global Majority community members. Bethan Touhig-Gamble - Span Arts
A community, a home for creativity, a place to develop skills and empower people, a place of hope and opportunity. The "nothing about us without us" ethos is central to the approach and a key strength - the work is participant led. We have seen the choir absolutely transform opportunities for musicians. Deborah Keyser - Ty Cerdd
In a world that is so fractured, WOW Choir spreads a message of unity and collaboration in a way that is joyful, uplifting, inspirational and generous. This wonderful choir shows us that music can speak across languages, cultures, ages and perspectives to unite us as one hopeful community. Caroline - Sinfonia Cymru
