Craft Club
Improving wellbeing and connecting to nature
Oriel Davies Gallery has teamed up Powys Teaching Health Board, Open Newtown and Plant Life to run a series of free creative workshops Between May and July for people who are experiencing challenges with their mental health. This project - Clwb Crefft - has been funded by Arts Council Wales.

The seven weekly workshops (for those over 18 years old) will be led by basket maker Jeanette Gray and greenwood worker Gareth Fysh-Foshkett
Jeanette and Gareth have worked with Oriel Davies Gallery previously and are experienced in delivering traditional craft skills and mindfulness sessions that are physically and psychologically safe for everyone taking part.
The sessions will take place in the greenspaces near the gallery when dry (if wet, at the art gallery itself). No previous skills are required – the ambition of Clwb Crefft is to encourage discussion, connections and mutual support amongst participants to help alleviate anxiety , develop mindfulness and enjoy the creative process. Refreshments and lunch are provided.
