Cwm Weeg Garden Visit
Late Summer Walk and Draw with Afternoon Tea
Free to new members

Explore the beautiful gardens of Cwm Weeg identifying and enjoying the plant life and connecting with nature through drawing.
The gallery’s community gardener Mel Chandler will guide the walk, highlighting summer plant life characterised by vibrant greenery, full tree canopies, and an abundance of blooming flowers.
We will use drawing and note taking to collect and document information and create a personal drawing resource.
Artist Deborah Dalton will accompany Mel, using mindful drawing techniques to capture and identify plant life and enhance wellbeing. Collecting linear data, patterns and symmetries of the line within nature. Enhancing hand eye co-ordination and observational skills.
Cwm Weeg sits high above Newtown near Dolfor. The 3 acre formal garden is set within 21 acres of wild flower meadows and ancient bluebell woodland.
“Centred around a 15th Century farmhouse …. the garden has many surprises, including fountains and statuary, grottos, moss garden with artificial rock face and tree sculptures and a stumpery.”
This event includes: a guided walk and draw through accessible areas of the garden with gardener Mel artist Deborah Dalton; tour of the house by owners Wolfgang and Kingsley; entry to the garden; tea and homemade cake.
Meet at the gardens at 2pm. Cwm Weeg, Dolfor, Newtown, Powys, SY16 4AT
Drawing Memory and Mindfulness
Drawing can help people remember information better than writing or taking a photograph. The process of drawing helps people learn and retain information by integrating visual, kinetic and semantic information.
Drawing, Connecting with Nature and Wellbeing
The process of drawing, looking and recording, can boost positive emotions and mindfulness and reduce stress. Enabling us to be present in the moment and experience the natural world around us.
