Kind to the Mind supports children in developing mindfulness, confidence and a sense of place in the world through creative play.

MAKING MYTHS

We can’t wait to begin this year’s series of Kind to the Mind sessions, where children are encouraged to play and experiment with new ideas, materials and creative techniques. We will be delving into old stories and traditions whilst bringing a contemporary twist to this series of workshops run by local artists.

This is a great opportunity for children to spend time getting to know each other and working with artists to develop mindfulness through creativity.

April 27 – Liam Rickard - Creature Comics: Join Liam for a comics and drawing workshop inspired by the tale of the misunderstood 'afanc'.

May 4th – Bethany Clewes - Sculpting Creatures - We will delve into the magical land of Annwn, discover and bring to life the curious creatures that dwell there.

May 11th – Nicky ArscottMythical Costumes: Using local found and natural materials we will create costumes and stories inspired by different folk traditions.

May 18th - Nicky ArscottAnimal Life Drawing: sketching and clay sculpture making, we will also learn about the role of different animals in Welsh stories and legends.

May 25th - Kaan K - Ancient Scroll-Making - Using materials that you can easily find at home, we will be making our own ancient-looking scrolls, but what will you fill them with? We'll try some map-making techniques to create our own mythical lands, and we'll have a go at filling our scrolls with riddles and messages too.
