Bedwyr Williams’ probing gaze penetrates the ambitions, insecurities and idiosyncrasies in life with shrewd accuracy and surreal humour.

Williams regularly draws upon personal narratives and family histories, from his early years in rural North Wales to his career as an internationally recognised artist who continues to live and work in Wales. His practice poses questions about identity, memory, place and cultural mythologies through a multitude of artistic references. These often incorporate technologies on the brink of redundancy used within installations, sculptures, prints and performative pieces.

This large solo exhibition celebrates new and existing works, including his significant installation Nimrod, originated for Ceri Hand Gallery, Liverpool in 2009 and re-worked for Oriel Davies. Nimrod, an alternative, scaled-down airport, complete with watchtower, runway and airport advertising is both ‘geekily’ compelling and darkly humorous.
