Working across different media, her practice references the shifting geography of economic power, as well as varying global trends, against a background of local and traditional means of production.
As part of Shakti Cymru, Samant undertook a residency at Powis Castle during early July, responding to the Clive of India collection and its context within the Castle and in Wales. As a result, major new works are featuring at Powis Castle alongside her exhibition at Oriel Davies.
This exhibition forms part of the Meadow Arts project Shakti, presented in partnership with National Trust, Oriel Davies and WAVE - Wolverhampton Art Gallery. Shakti is an ambitious contemporary arts programme across four venues in both England and Wales exploring the relationship between Britain and the Indian Subcontinent.
