The idea of Arcadia has long fascinated artists. It has connections with a rural idyll, a bucolic past, escape to the country, or a rural utopia. These are all ideas that are relevant to our programme here at Oriel Davies. The idea of transformation is something else that fascinates us. Blodeuwedd symbolises transformation within the natural and magical worlds. Here we create a woodland, a space for contemplation and making things change.
Immerse yourself in Arcadia.

The space contains multiple monitors playing animated films. The sounds are deliberately low to suggest a murmur in the space. You can request that sound be turned up or down.
The space also contains smells of dried herbs, flowers and natural materials. This is part of the immersive experience.
As with all of our exhibitions, we are happy to lower light levels during your visit. If you would like a low light experience please call us in advance and we’ll do our best to meet your needs.
