Work experience at the gallery

We were happy to welcome Amelia for work experience here at the gallery. Read a report of her time here below, and look out for her audio descriptions which will soon be part of the Everything Changes / Everything Stays the Same exhibition.

Diolch Amelia!

29/4/25 - My first day was great. Getting introduced to work with a cup of tea first thing was the best first impression! The conversations were friendly and inviting. I watched the short film and looked at the exhibition first, then wrote a report/analysis on it. after was lunch, which felt freeing to not be strictly kept within a specific time. After, I sat at the front desk with an employee and chatted (which was also friendly). Then, I looked at the archaeology workshop.

30/4/25 - My second day was even better. I made an information sheet from the website and made a Welsh translation of it to put in the exhibition (I also taught one the employees a new tech skill to use autocorrect in other languages). I prepared to make a script for an audio recording about one of the photos in the exhibit. Later in the day, I made a basket with a few others from weaving.

1/5/25 - My third day was when I made the activities for children in the café; a dot to dot, finish the drawing, and started a spot the differences – all based on the exhibits. My hands got dirty from drawing so much!

6/5/25 – My fourth day! I couldn’t wait to be back. School was a nightmare in comparison- It was soooo boring!! But now I got to finish off my “spot the difference” activity sheet.

7/5/25 – I learnt how to photocopy items and how to save the files. I saved a collection of files from artwork from a school to be part of a new exhibit and sorted, named and labelled the files. I also made another project with the weaving group- a bag made of tree bark. I left with a bag and also the branch I peeled it off of!

8/5/25 - My last day, my most productive as well (I think). I finished off my “Where’s Wally” drawing and made scripts for three different photos in the exhibition and voice recorded them. I also made two birthday cards for the employees whose birthdays are today and tomorrow. I also got a thank you gift for working and helping here- so nice!
