Opportunities

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 5PM FRIDAY 14 OCTOBER

A series of Artist Opportunities at Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital, Health & Wellbeing Project, Machynlleth

‘Ffydd Gobaith Cariad’ / ‘Faith Hope Love’

The project represents a Welsh Government investment of £15M for the reconfiguration of Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital work started in March 2021 with a planned opening of the facility in early 2023

As a result of this investment, three specific projects have been identified.

Project Overview

The projects are:

A permanent piece of public art at the Hospital that could act as a clear meeting point and is of specific local relevance, to be commissioned, created and installed by a professional artist; £18,000

A bilingual writer, who can deliver workshops in Welsh and English, that will generate new writing that explores a sense of place. They will have excellent communication skills that help to communicate a genuine voice from local people; Outcomes will be produced in-house as cut vinyl lettering to be sited in various locations throughout the hospital. £3,000

An Illustrator, Graphic Designer or Artist who can produce a two-dimensional public artwork for the main entrance area at Bro Ddyfi Community Hospital, Health & Wellbeing Project, Machynlleth, that will be enjoyed by adults, children and families of all backgrounds for years to come. It is essential that this identifies the Welcome zone and it could refer to the outcomes from the writing workshops. This will be produced using wipeable vinyl and will be delivered as files to be produced and installed in-house on printed vinyl. £2,250

Themes that have already been identified through public consultation include Nature; the environment & weather, flora & fauna, heritage & local history, ‘distinctive’ Machynlleth & Dyfi Valley community

All of the projects should aim to be inclusive and diverse and represent a wide cultural community. We welcome applications from all sectors of community.

It is hoped that this project will help to establish and develop a mutually beneficial way of working for the partners that enables us to nurture a productive longer-term relationship. It is important to note that there are a number of groups in the town exploring local history, writing, art, the ideas of circular economy, community ownership, and green economy who are all keen to cooperate and be involved in the project.

The project will offer an opportunity for all local communities (including Welsh speaking communities), groups, schools, families, workers, staff and volunteers to explore new ways of looking at the Machynlleth.
