The restrictions placed on everybody during the pandemic have made engaging with the gallery and our regular activities very difficult. In response we’ve worked closely with artists to create inspiring and accessible creativity packs focussing on mindfulness and getting outside.
Inspiration for the packs comes from the natural world and it’s benefits to our wellbeing; as well as our current exhibition Our Isles.
Artists Christine Mills, Rebecca Finney and Jamila Thomas have created a range of activities for all ages and abilities based on accessible local walks.
In the packs you’ll find ideas for drawing, painting, photography and film, book art, land art and more. All the materials needed are things you’ve probably got at home already.
Download the packs and get started on a creative adventure on your own doorstep! Share the work you make on social media using the hashtag #wherethesevernsmiles
With thanks to Open Newtown and Welsh Government for funding these activities. Part of a wellbeing project called Where The Severn Smiles connecting people to Newtown’s green spaces. Thanks also to Walking Newtown and Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust for their support and advice.
