Weaving workshops for young people this autumn
Weaving workshops in the gallery space with our current exhibition of contemporary blankets. This exhibition brings together some of Wales’s leading textile artists in a celebration of craft and colour, brightening up our autumn days.
The sessions will include a tour of the exhibition of work by Steve Attwood Wright and Blanket Coverage - a touring show curated by Laura Thomas.
Students will be working in small groups to create a Saori weave. This technique was developed in Japan 40 years ago. Saori weaving has few rules and allows for individuality and self-expression. All materials will be provided but pupils can bring recycled materials too. For example strips of textiles, plastics and papers, leaves and feathers.
Sessions will run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between mid-November and mid-December from 10am – 11am
You can book a space on one of the following dates:
November 18th, 23rd or 25th
December 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th or 16th.
Please indicate the numbers of pupils and staff attending.
To ensure the gallery’s Covid restrictions are upheld numbers are limited to 30 pupils plus staff.
Entrance it via the main doors on the park side of the gallery
Mask wearing is required by adults (unless exempt).
